Preparations for 2023 are underway

The snowdrops have been and gone, ditto the crocuses. Spring is poking her sleepy head through the cold earth and thinking about making an appearance, even here in wintry Weardale.

Also stirring are the organising committee for the Weardale Wordfest. What? Already? I hear you ask. Oh yes. The work starts here and already we have news.

Firstly the dates, 27-29th October will be Wordfest Weekend with talks, performances, workshops and of fabulous food. One slight change to note is that the Book Fair where you can buy works by local authors (even signed if you catch them on the day) will take place in Saturday 5th August at St Thomas’ Church Hall. So whereas before you bought them for Christmas presents, now you can stock up on your summer holiday reading.

Secondly, workshops already confirmed which I can announce here and now are ‘A Guide to Self-Publishing’ by renowned Weardale authors Phil Mews and Graeme Rendall and a wonderful-sounding joint illustration and poetry workshop by the fabulous Jane Burn (see her work on Twitter). Fans of the Corned Beef Chronicles will be glad to know there’s going to be a ‘Lunch with Maureen and Ivy’ at the Wordfest Weekend too!
