Biography

Victoria Downes lives in County Durham. She has been commissioned to write four children’s picture books, including the Explorers farm nursery series and Engineering Your Future — written in collaboration with eight North East colleges and the Department for Education. Victoria was thrilled to be given the opportunity to co-curate the Weardale WordFest Children’s Book Day, alongside Sam Slatcher. Victoria used to be an English teacher and now delivers creative reading and writing workshops in schools and craft sessions with author visits in libraries and nurseries. She also works with parents and their grown ups to increase reading engagement. When she isn’t writing, Victoria loves exploring the British countryside in her camper van, Monty, with her family. At home, she likes to read with her cat Meg Whisker at her feet.
